Younique Mineral Liquid Foundation Review

As some of you may have noticed, I took a little break from blogging, with starting a new job and having so much going on in my own life, I wasn’t fully committed to my blog, however after a break, Im back and ready to start again. Since taking a break, I have become a Younique Presenter; I completely fell in love with Younqiue when I reviewed their 3D mascara and lipstain, so I thought what better way to share my views on their products then blogging about them. I know what you are thinking, she is biased, she is trying to sell… No. I still will be writing my honest views on the products and will be blogging other products as much as possible too!

First up is the turn of the Younique Mineral Touch Liquid Foundation, when I first received it, I wasn’t completely sold, I’d never been a big fan of liquid foundations, they were either too heavy or thick on my skin, or the coverage was pants! So I was totally sceptical about this product, but honestly Im not sure what was I worried about?!
Let’s start with packaging, as all Younique products, the foundation comes in a beautifully simple yet sophisticated black box, with white font on both the front and back complimented by the white Younique logo. Inside the packaging you will find a lovely thick glass dropper bottle. Please Note: give the bottle a good shake before using, I didn’t do this, so my first application was way too oily. However, if you give the bottle a good shake, you definitely won’t have the same problem as me! Oops!

With this product, a little goes along way, I dot the foundation on my forehead (above each eye) along the cheekbone and a tiny bit of the chin (around 4/5 drops all over the face) and blend in using my Real Techniques Foundation Brush, leaving me with a flawless finish. When the foundation is applied it is a liquid however it dries to a beautiful matte powdery finish, meaning that you don’t need to apply a powder over the top (Hello time saving!!)

So what’s my overall feel for this product?....

Life-changer!  This foundation is light-weight on the skin but still gives an excellent coverage, it is easily buildable meaning if you prefer a heavier foundation it can cater to that as well. The foundation is so easy to apply and literally lasts all day. Although, the foundation for me is slightly on the pricer end of the scale for me coming in at £30, a little goes a long way so this foundation is going to last. Although the foundation is only available in ten shades, as it is mineral based, it blends in with the natural tones of the skin so you aren’t going to be walking around with that tangoed face, unless you want to. Each shade is also available as a Mineral Touch Concealer to match…amazing!

MINI ALVA HAUL.

I use the word haul very loosely, as I'm only actually reviewing two Alva products from the MyPure Website. Alva has already featured on my blog sometime last year here when I reviewed their lip liner. Alva is a certified organic skin care company and is now one of Europe's leading natural skin care brands.

One of their latest releases is the Organic Creamy Collection lipstick - there is currently 4 gorgeous colours in the collection: Brick Red, Burnt Orange, Naked Pink and Purple Haze.
When this little parcel arrived through my door I wasn't hugely impressed, the casing of the lipstick is a cardboard type material, surely it couldn't protect my lipstick from all the junk that I through into my bag on a day to day basis. Well how wrong was I? Never judge a book by it's covers - the packaging hasn't dented or broken my lipstick at all. The lipstick is a lush shimmery purple colour,  I really couldn't capture how it glistens in the light by the photos - I know, shoddy work. The lipstick itself glides onto the lip so smoothly when it is applied. It's feels as if it is already moisturising your lips before its even touching them. My lips definitely feel a lot softer and smoother since I've been using it. The main downside of this lipstick is it staying power, it only lasts a few hours so needs topping up frequently, however I love the colour so much, I will apply it every other hour if needed - it is so sparkly and different to any lipsticks I've used before, I would 100% recommend you to try it.

The baked powder foundation is also from Alva, I picked it up in colour light as although the sun has been out, I am still extremely pale, the product is also available in the shade medium.
As I've mentioned in previous posts, I always become so lazy with my make up through the summer. I can't think of any worse than layering my skin up with foundation before going out in the sunshine, so I always opt for a powder through the summer, especially in the day. This powder applies so easily to the skin, and helps to hid any of skin shine (why is my skin always so shiny!?)
The packaging is really simple yet effective, it comes in a small black box - perfect size to take out of an evening in a clutch bag too - with a bit silver elastic attached to keep the powder closed and stop it from escaping all over my bag.
The powder has a better staying power than the lipstick but again it isn't amazing, I do have to reapply it two or three times through the day. This could be due to the fact that I don't apply much each time as I like my skin being able to get some sun through the summer. Once the powder has been applied you can't feel it ok your skin at all. Huge thumbs up from me.

Overall I loved using these products, it's such a shame they don't last as long as other brands. The lipstick is such a beautiful colour, so this is a product that I will definitely be re-purchasing it. If anyone has brought any of the other colours in the range, I'd love to know what you think of them? I definitely want to try the 3 other shades soon.  The powder is great for the summer months, so I'm hoping this box will last me through this summer and then I will head back to foundation to give a thicker coverage.

Until next time

PATCHWORK PLAYSUIT.

This playsuit has been patiently waiting to grace MDO forever; I brought it months and months ago in serious preparation for going to Florida this year.
I love the colours and funky patterns on this patchwork masterpiece. Finally with the sunshine  showing it's face, so I can wear it out and about (please excuse my milk bottle legs, they are yet to see sunlight much this year, I need to invest in some fake tan for these white pins).
I've paired the playsuit with this faux suede jacket from H&M and this fabulous tassel bag from Stradivarius. I picked up this bag in Milan a few months back now, I pretty much use it all the time, in fact it rarely leaves my arms. If you head over the the Stradivarius website soon, the bag is currently in the sale, such a bargain!

THE WEDDING EDIT.

I feel like I've completely run out of excuses for my lack of outfit blogging lately, I still love it, I honestly do, but I'm finally trying to be really strict on myself with my serious shopping habit. so my clothes shopping has been seriously curbed!

Anywhooo, back to this outfit, I was rather proud of myself when I put this outfit together, as the only new piece of the outfit is this gorgeous dress. A huge thank you to my buddy Laura, for forcing me to try this dress on, as I totally fell in love with it once I put it on. I very rarely wear bodycon dress, or white - I'm so clumsy, so white and me really don't mix so well!! Unfortunately Quiz Clothing don't stock this dress online anymore, so I'll try and link you some alternatives below.

The jacket, shoes, and bag were all re-used pieces that I already had in my wardrobe. The shoes have already featured on MDO before here
The cream jacket was from New Look about 2 years ago and it definitely a firm favourite of my blazers. It isn't fitted and has quite a lot of give in it, allowing for my overly large shoulders and is perfect for dressing up or wearing casually.
Do any other ex-swimmers still seriously struggle with man shoulders?!

This box clutch is so incredible cute, don't you think? I picked it up from a Warehouse sale like 100 moons ago! To be completely honest with you, it hardly get a used, but I couldn't bare to part with it either! I'm quite glad that I've kept it, as it matches perfectly to this dress.

Shoes - Matalan (old) (similar here)

I had so much fun at the wedding that I completely forgot to take any photos to share with you. I clearly didn't have my blogger head on!

But  a massive congratulations to my friends Josh and Alex for tying to knot, and hosting such a beautifully perfect day!!!

MAY PAY DAY WISHLIST.

Haha, as if it is already the 11th of the month and I haven't share my wishlist, how have I become so unorganised!!
Anyway, Pay Day is here again, and some how I still seem to have no money, so I thought I'd share with you some of the pieces that I am desperate to add to my wardrobe ASAP!!
I have been seriously lacking in outfit posts recently, am thinking of doing a work lookbook for you all.

LOVEA SHEA MOISTURISING HAIR MASK.

Ever heard of the company Lovea before? Me either, until now, thanks to the MyPure team!

I picked up this product at the beginning of May, thinking I could use it once a week (maximum) to help my seriously dry hair. From years of dying and completely over-styling, my hair has definitely seen better days! I've been in search of a moisturising mask that doesn't break the bank but still does what it says on the tin.

The Lovea range includes certified organic skin, hair and body care treatments, which are packed full of nourishing natural ingredients. The three key ingredients used are:
  • Tahitian Monoi for normal hair and skin,
  • Moroccan Argan Oil used for skin and hair that needs special care, and
  • Burkina Shea Butter for dry hair and skin.

So naturally I opted for the Burkina Shea Butter Moisturising hair mask, which consists of a rich and creamy formula which helps to restore damaged hair and prevent split ends.  This product claims to be ideal for dry, damaged and treated hair.

I've been trying to use this product once a week for the last few weeks, and I have noticed an improvement in my hair. Firstly the product smells so nice when its opened, the texture is very rich and creamy if not slightly sticky when applied to the hair, however it smooths and soaks into the hair quickly. I've found that I had the best results when I used the mask after washing, conditioning  and towel drying my hair. I left the mask on for anywhere between 5-15 minutes, to be honest with you there wasn't much difference in the softness nor healthiness of my hair when leaving it on for 5 or 15 minutes, so since then I've tended to only leave the mask on for about 5 minutes. Since using the mask, I have noticed that my hair is less frizzy, softer and generally in better health than it was before. It helped give my hair a lovely shine and has left it in much better condition.

You can pick up this product for £7.99 from the MyPure site here. My hair has definitely felt softer and healthier since using this product. I am really looking forwards to seeing the results that this product has on my hair after using it for a longer period of time!!

LIVING NATURE THICKENING MASCARA.

Another mascara? If i had a pound for everytime my mum said that, I honestly think I would be rich. I current own a hundreds of tubes of mascara at the moment, as I just love them all for different types of looks, so I thought adding one more into the mix wouldn't hurt, so today is the turn of Living Nature's Thickening Mascara.

What does the product claim to do?

Living Nature claims ''A subtle blackened brown for plump lashes and beautifully natural eyes. Living Natiure thickening mascara uses halloysite clay to thicken lashes for impact without clumps or chemicals''

I've been using this mascara for a while now, and it has such a lush fresh smell when you unscrew the plain black lid. It applies really easily to the lashes and is easily removed at the end of the day. When using the mascara I found no smudging through the day and it lasted really well. After one application I didn't notice my lashes being any thicker, however after two applications it definitely does help the thickness of the lashes.
However, for me, I prefer mascara that thickens, volumises and lengthens my lashes, so this isn't a mascara that I would chose if I were looking for a dramatic look. Nevertheless, this is a mascara I would use for an everyday natural look. I found that the mascara did clump my lashes together, but not too much so this wouldn't stop me from using it!

Using Living Nature Thickening Mascara with two coats.

Would I purchase this item again?
Unfortunately this product is slightly out of my price range at the moment for the amount that I have been using it. As I said earlier I prefer a mascara that lengthens and volumises my lashes, however if you are looking for a mascara to give your lashes a jet black yet natural look, then this mascara is definitely for you. You can purchase it from the MyPure website here for £21, it is available in two colours - jet black (this one) and a blackened brown.
